A start on the countdown

Yes folks it's almost that time again, where did the last 12 months go? This half term I've been playing around with some ideas for Christmas decorations. This one came from my friend Gail who introduced this little birdie a few weeks ago. Now my Robin ready for the festive season. I've decorated the pegs and turned him into an advent calendar. Isn't he cute.

I've used Crate papers from 3djean which are gorgeous and that yummy green ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl.

Now that I've covered all the pegs I think these little packets also from The Ribbon Girl will hold a little treat to see me through to Christmas day.

Standing in the shadows

This week in class we have been making silhouette cards using backgrounds that we made in a pevious class. I had forgotten how lovely this technique is, so simple, so effective.

I just loved using that bit of sequin waste that has been hanging about in drawer for ages. I've also used bubble wrap to get texture onto my backgrounds.

Right outside my comfort zone, not a button, ribbon or nesstie shape in sight!

New York New York

A couple of weeks ago my friend's daughter spread her wings and  flew the nest to go off to uni. As a little momento I made her a little mini book full of photos of her 18th Birthday trip to the city that never sleeps. She had such a wonderful time with her mum and aunt and did'nt mind one bit that she had to stay another week due to volcanic ash!!!! How lucky can you get?

I spotted this wallpaper in the bargain bin in B&Q £1

When I looked through the photos trying to decide which ones to use she was either eating or pulling funny faces!
Oh to be 18 again!

10.10.10

These fabulous roses were waiting for me at breakfast on Sunday. 10 to signify my birth date 10th October. I was stunned, Husband doesn't usually go in for this sort of thing. He then presented me with a booking confirmation at a top notch hotel and spa. WOW was I a lucky girl.

When we arrived at the reception I was presented with a further 10 roses and finally when we were shown into our room another 10 roses were waiting for me along with a lovely bottle of champers to complete the 10.10.10. I was speechless and that's saying something. Never in the 27 years I've known Phil has he ever sprung anything like this.

This is our bathroom along with flat screen tv, doesn't every home have one!

Our room was on the ground floor and looked out over the golf course. It was idyllic. We had full use of the spa(more photos later). I haven't come down yet. It was amazing. Luxury at it;s finest.
It;s our silver wedding next year can't wait to see what he's planned for that!

A Special Birthday

This weekend I have a special Birthday no I'm not collecting my bus pass or getting the key of the door! It's more about the date So on Sunday my Birthday will be 10.10.10. When I was a little girl I had worked out that I would have this special day but now the years have rolled by so quickly and now it's here. I know I'm really lucky and that not many people will get to have a special date so we'replanning to celebrate in style. Husband has arranged "something special and I need a posh frock" and he has managed to keep it secret (not one of his strong points). The last time he arranged for us to go to Cape Town for my 50th and proceeded to ring me the week before to find out when we were due back from South Africa ! So I had a little inking what was on the cards. But this time he has been as silent as a mouse. Will let you know where we end up after the weekend.

Anyone else having one of these Birthdays?

In the meantime you can drool over the stash I managed to buy at Ally Pally last month. We had a fab time us three girls let loose in the city. We had a lovely girlie weekend, shopping, show (The Jersy Boys, a real good sing a long) eating, drinking and finally 2 full days at the show. What could be better. We thought we might give the NEC a try next year.

Never!

I can't believe it's been that long since I posted, naughty blogger. So what have I been doing? Days have just passed me by, life has just stolen my time but I'm back in control and more importantly I'm back in my craft room!! So one on the things I've made during that missing time was at a class at Crafty Individuals during the summer.  This delightful canvas was fun to make. I just love the stamp we used.
